Approximations post-coloniales du droit international en Amérique latine et dans les Caraïbes

Du 23 au 25 juin 2016, j’ai participé au colloque “Approximations post-coloniales du droit international en Amérique latine et dans les Caraïbes” qui avait lieu à l’Universidad nacional autónoma de México dans la ville de Mexico (Mexique). Ce colloque réunissait des chercheures-eurs des Amériques, principalement en provenance du Mexique, du Brésil et de la Colombie. Le colloque était co-organisé par la Universidad nacional autónoma de México (UNAM), l’Université du Québec à Montréal (UQAM) et l’Universidade de Brasília (UNB).

Mes salutations coloniales

À l’invitation du Projet Accompagnement Québec-Guatemala (PAQG), j’ai donné une conférence qui portait sur les aspects coloniaux des séjours de coopération et de solidarité internationale. Dans le cadre de cette soirée “décoloniale”, il a aussi été question de comment décoloniser nos rapports avec les pays dans lesquels nous intervenons. La soirée a eu lieu à Montréal au Centre internationaliste Ryerson-Fondation Aubin.

En début de soirée, la poétesse Natasha Kanapé Fontaine est intervenue et puis nous avons visionné des courts métrages de la Wapikoni Mobile.

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS FOR A PANEL

The past few years have seen the rebirth or growth of development sociology in North America and elsewhere. Scholarly work about the so-called “developing societies” and about the “development apparatus” is now more abundant than ever. But, development sociology poses many further ethical, social and political challenges. Development is being criticized for its ethnocentric vision and its imperialist endeavours. These criticisms are increasingly visible and debated. In that context, we would like to call for critical papers that reflect on the practice and teaching of sociology development. This panel is following two successful development sociology mini-conferences organized at the ESS meetings in 2013 and 2014.

This panel welcomes papers critical of the ambitions of mainstream sociology, proposing ways to overcome limitations or presenting alternative pedagogies and practices. Submitted abstracts could be addressing such themes as, but not limited to:

  • Reflections on teaching development issues;
  • Analysis of educational material in development sociology;
  • Proposals for the decolonization of development pedagogy;
  • Innovations in teaching development sociology;
  • Teaching development issues outside the academia;
  • Teaching for development;
  • Social and political activism in the academia;
  • The practice of development sociology.

Please send your abstract (about 250 words) to F. Sonia Arellano-López (farellan@binghamton.edu) and Dimitri della Faille (dimitri.dellafaille@uqo.ca) no later than October 19, 2015. Please note that full papers are not required. Abstracts that are not accepted could be submitted for the general conference.
